Hallo miteinander nach ewiger Zeit
Ich bin gerade über etwas gestolpert was vielleicht eine Erklärung für das gefundene "Jeans" Muster bringt.
You know that the VLF/HF propagation is affected by the presence of the ionospheric D-layer during the day,
and the E-layer at night (constructive or destructive interferences at the observer level, between sky wave and ground wave).
But have you ever "seen" layer E?
During a joint manipulation last December of observation of the Geminids swarm at the observatory of Haute-Provence (France),
we deployed two cameras operating in the visible, two others in the infrared, a VHF receiver, a receiver ELF / VLF and a TLF magnetometer.
Cameras operating in the near infrared are sensitive to "nightglow", that is to say to an OH line emitted in the upper atmosphere in the near infrared.
Here are two examples of gravity waves (oscillations of height and density towards 87 km of altitude) that we observed.
I have placed on our

our complete videos: you will better understand where are the nocturnal amplitude fluctuations of the VLF transmitters that we record
